Two local realtors take Christmas vacation to New York City

Kelly Whitaker and Wanda Petersen took a few days away from Ponte Vedra Beach to experience New York City at Christmas.

It was a whirlwind time for them with their friends and family with a lot packed into the short visits. Petersen and her crew experienced a wonderful snow storm in the city (some of them were delayed getting in), but the snow made for a special treat in the city. Some of the highlights were seeing “Frozen” on Broadway, “The Radio City Christmas Spectacular” with the Rockettes, The Big Apple Circus in Lincoln Center and Candytopia.

In keeping with the NYC pace, they managed to ice skate both in Central Park and in Rockefeller Center. According to the real estate duo, the highlight is always the Christmas tree in Rockefeller Plaza. This year, they said FAO Schwartz was open and stocked with all of the fun. The windows at Saks, they noted, were wonderfully created with theater as their theme, and Macy’s windows were a treat for all as well. Whitaker and Petersen said Santa’s wonderland at Macy’s was a pleasant surprise, and they all enjoyed seeing Santa and giving him their wish lists for Christmas.

American Girl was a huge hit, they said; selecting the perfect doll with outfits and accessories was quite the treat for the little ones. And then dining with them in the American Girl Café put them over the top. Between Tavern on the Green, Carmines, John’s Pizza, Ellen’s Stardust Diner (where the entertainment is a show in itself, they said), street food vendors, numerous Starbucks and ice cream stops, the group had plenty of deliciousness to eat.

“This was a fantastic Christmas experience for all of us!” Whitaker and Petersen said. “Maybe we will do it again in a few years! Now, back to work!”
