Unforgettable Pearl Harbor Day event

The We Can Be Heroes Foundation held a Pearl Harbor Day Breakfast with Our Heroes Dec.7, honoring World War II veterans and Gold Star Families. Retired U.S. Navy Captain Ryman Shoaf gave a speech, presenting the captivating story of a Pearl Harbor Lead Aviator and his eventual conversion to Christianity and evangelism with the renowned Billy Graham.  A valuable record of the major events of the time made the presentation come alive for attendees.

World War II Veterans, Gold Star Families, veterans representing the Clara White Mission, the Ponte Vedra High School Sharks for Heroes Club and the Atlantic Coast Young Marines joined the event.

Speaking for the World War II Veterans at his table, 101-year-old Veteran Sollie Mitchell said, “We are very pleased – everything is beautiful. The Speaker did a super job and was very informative.” Mitchell served in the office of General Douglas MacArthur in the Philippines during World War II.

Nonperishable food and winter clothing were collected at the event for homeless veterans in

re-employment programs with the Clara White Mission.
