Vintage camper brings one-of-a-kind fashion to Nocatee

Angie Pisacane, a Jacksonville resident, has always had a passion for being creative. From a young age, she was sewing, creating clothes, making jewelry and exploring all of the ways she could handcraft things. It was not until her adult years that she realized she could take her love of creativity and turn it into a business.

Pisacane grew up on the coast of New Jersey but moved to St. Augustine to attend Flagler College, where she received a degree in business. She also went on to receive a degree from the Fashion Institute of Technology in Manhattan, but decided to bring her beachy/boho style to the North Florida area.

Just before the pandemic struck last spring, Pisacane launched The Fashion Camper, a pink, vintage camper that travels to pop-up markets in St. Johns County to display Pisacane’s one-of-a-kind work. She said The Fashion Camper was something that was years in the making. Pisacane did not want to take the traditional route by displaying her work in a typical storefront, but instead create a traveling boutique that could more accurately give off the style she was hoping for.

At The Fashion Camper, which pops up most regularly at the Nocatee Farmers Market, Pisacane sells her handcrafted jewelry, clothing, wearable artwork and other mixed-media creations. She enjoys the organic experiences that popping-up at these markets can create, and the people she meets.

Pisacane said that since her items are often so unique, she is at a disadvantage trying to sell them online. Being able to present her work in person and getting to explain the backstory/inspiration for her pieces creates a better experience for both her and her customers.

“I think the customers and the experience and me getting to meet people is absolutely, hands-down the most amazing part of The Fashion Camper,” said Pisacane.

Her traveling camper boasts items for all age demographics, making her a unique outlier in the fashion industry. Whether it is resin art, unique jewelry or new sundresses, The Fashion Camper has something for everyone.

“It is really cool to have a young girl, and her mother, and her grandmother, come to The Fashion Camper to shop and they all find something cool and unique to buy,” she said.

Pisacane’s goal with The Fashion Camper is to continue bringing it to pop-up markets in the area and continue making connections with other local creatives. Since Pisacane spends hours staging the camper for these markets, she said she has to be selective about where she travels, but she is looking forward to bringing more of her designs to the public.

“The goal is to share the experience with as many people as possible,” she said.
