Wayne Charles Gerry passed away with family by his side on June 2, 2024, in Jacksonville, Florida. He was born in Lewiston, Maine, on August 30, 1939, to the late Oliver and Arria Gerry. He grew up in Poland Spring, Maine, and spent most of his years in Portland, Maine.

Wayne had a successful business career and crafted his skills early while working in the family business at Dunkin’ Donuts. He then pursued a career in the electrical field and held leadership roles at Holmes Electric Supply Co. of Maine and North Coast Sales of Massachusetts. He later moved to Atlanta, Georgia, for a role at Asea Brown Boveri (ABB) before retiring to Florida.

He was a man of deep faith and married the love of his life, Elizabeth (Betty) Gerry, and they were married for 62 years. He devoted his life to her and helped to support her care over the past several years in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.

Wayne loved his family and was the proud father of Deborah Clapsadl and husband, Will, of Ouray, Colorado, Stephen Gerry and wife, Pauline, of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, and Andrew Gerry and wife, Jacquelyn, of South Portland, Maine. He was proud of all his grandchildren: Derek and Deana Levesque, Hunter Clapsadl, Alexandra and Zachary Gerry and Andrew, Jacob, Samuel and Jack Gerry. He adored his great grandchildren, Brayden and Bentley Thompson.

Wayne also leaves behind his wife, Betty, and brother, Jack Gerry, and was preceded in death by brother, Robert.

He was an avid golfer and member of Gorham Country Club, winning many tournaments and had three holes-in-one over the years! He shared his love of sports including golf, skiing (was a ski jumper), basketball, and field hockey with his entire family. He attended every sporting event for all his children and was their biggest fan!

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Champions for Hope, Funk-Zitiello Foundation to fund important pancreatic cancer research which he unknowingly suffered from. Events to support this cause are held at his favorite course, TPC Sawgrass home of the PLAYERS. Visit ChampionsForHopeGolf.com for more information.
