Youth Orchestras plans six concerts

Posted

The Jacksonville Symphony Youth Orchestras (JSYO) have a stellar season of performances in Jacoby Symphony Hall with all six ensemble levels. The first concert takes place Sunday, Nov. 10, with the final performance on May 12, 2025. These performances not only highlight the talents of the student musicians but provide an opportunity for them to appreciate their growth, improve confidence and gain experience in a professional setting.

The Fall, Holiday and Spring concerts feature the six levels of ensembles on stage performing everything from Alan Silvestri to Sergei Rachmaninoff. These concerts are enjoyable for the whole family and offer a wide variety of programming.

The Young Artist Competition takes place Feb. 10 and features solo performances by the JSYO Philharmonic’s finest young artists. The winner will earn the opportunity to perform a featured solo with the Jacksonville Symphony and the JSYO at the Major/Minor concert in May.

The JSYO’s Repertory and Philharmonic ensembles perform with the musicians of the Jacksonville Symphony during the Major/Minor concert on May 7. This unique collaboration offers talented youth the chance to hone their skills and shine alongside seasoned performers in a heartwarming concert experience.

The final performance of the season is the annual Festival of Strings on May 12, 2025. Four ensembles of the Jacksonville Symphony Youth Orchestras come together with nearly 100 students from Communities In Schools' “Jump Start Strings” program for an epic performance featuring more than 200 young musicians.
