Make-A-Wish Central and Northern Florida is celebrating a major milestone, marking its 30th anniversary with a record-breaking achievement of granting 425 lifechanging wishes during the 2024 fiscal year.

Looking ahead, the chapter is setting an ambitious goal to grant 450 wishes in the upcoming fiscal year, continuing its mission to bring hope, strength and joy to children facing critical illnesses. This achievement marks a significant moment in the chapter's history, bringing the total number of wishes granted to more than 7,500 since its opening in 1994.

This accomplishment is a testament to the dedication and generosity of the community that supports the chapter. The chapter’s heartfelt thanks go out to all the donors, dedicated staff, committed volunteers, inspiring wish families and generous corporate sponsors, whose support has made this milestone possible.

“The team set their sights on granting 425 wishes and only saw the possibilities in delivering more joy and hope than ever before,” said Laurie Armendariz, vice president of mission delivery for Make-A-Wish Central and Northern Florida. “Their passion to grant the wish of every eligible child is a beautiful collaboration with compassionate volunteers, donors and partners throughout our community.”

Together, the chapter and its supporters have proven the extraordinary power of community to create life-changing experiences for children and their families. Among the experiences this year were wishes as unique as a car parade, a room redo, becoming a police officer for a day, meeting the legendary band Metallica and even a wish to be a super dog helper. These experiences represent the wide variety of wishes the chapter brings to life, showing that no wish is too big or too unique to be brought to life.

As Make-A-Wish Central and Northern Florida strives to grant 450 wishes next year, the chapter invites the public to be a part of this extraordinary journey. Whether through donations, volunteering or becoming a corporate partner, there are countless ways to get involved and help make a difference.
