Third-grade students on the Bolles Lower School Ponte Vedra Beach Campus are taking their reading skills to the next level – the stage.
As part of a lesson in storytelling and active reading, third-grade teacher Amy Coles assigned books in a script format to students, who were given parts and spent time learning how to share their lines within the parameters of their class instruction. Some of those themes included acting is reacting; always stay in character; face the audience; read with a storyteller’s voice; make sure your voice matches the character’s feelings; and look out for and use punctuation.
Student groups were taking turns sharing their presentations throughout the first week of October in Coles’ class.
