Ann Holomon Sims

Ann Holomon Sims grew up in Bessemer, Alabama and graduated cum laud from Judson College. She then became an American Airlines stewardess based in New York City. She was married in 1945 after Major Malcolm Sims returned from 4 years of service. They met through a mutual friend when she was 17.

They lived in Memphis, Nashville, Dallas and 25 years in Cincinnati where Malcolm completed 32 years with Procter and Gamble. In 1979 he retired and they became early members of Sawgrass Country Club. Ann loved golf and tennis, serving as chairman of Sawgrass Ladies Tennis. They were long-time members of Palms Presbyterian Church where they sponsor the Fine Arts Series. She was a published poet including a collection entitled, “Family Secrets.”

After 25 years in Sawgrass they moved to Vicar’s Landing where she was passionate about duplicate bridge and acting, serving as co-chairman of “Way off Broadway” Vicar’s theatrical group.

Ann has a devoted family of son, Gregory Sims (Catherine), four grandchildren, Sonya Nuri, Justin Nevill (Angela), Sarah Sims and Brandon Sims along with 4 great grandchildren. Her husband Malcolm and two daughters, Cyndy and Holly are deceased.

Ann died on August 19, 2015. A Memorial Service was held September 5th in Palms Presbyterian Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Fine Arts Fund at Palms Presbyterian Church.
