Aviles Street Festival set for Sept. 5

Posted

The Aviles Street Merchants Association will co-host the third annual Aviles Street Festival, along with the Ximenez-Fatio House Museum. The event will celebrate St. Augustine’s Spanish heritage with cultural events on Saturday, Sept. 5, running from noon to 9 p.m. along the oldest street. Formerly called Calle del Hospital by the Spanish who settled the city, the street is on a map from 1586.

St. Augustine celebrates its 461th anniversary on Sept. 8, founded in 1565. Aviles Street is home to museums, art galleries and restaurants. A fun bingo game will be part of the Aviles Street Festival, with stops along this historic street, and a chance to win a gift basket filled with items from merchants.
