Kyle Dorsey, vice president of operations for Baptist Jacksonville and Wolfson Children’s Hospital, was recently honored by Modern Healthcare magazine as one of only 25 emerging leaders under age 40 who have made significant contributions in the areas of health care administration, management or policy.

Dorsey has served in his current position since 2017 and recently served as the interim president of Baptist Jacksonville from April 2021 until August 2021, making him the youngest person to lead the flagship hospital in its 66-year history.

Those who make up Modern Healthcare’s 2021 class of the Top 25 Emerging Leaders have displayed innovation and accomplishment both predating and concurrent with the COVID-19 pandemic. Dorsey continues to be instrumental in Baptist Health’s preparedness and exaction to events during the pandemic.

In March 2020, at the onset of the pandemic, he was the operational leader for one of the city’s first mass COVID-19 testing locations. He also co-led the campus-wide COVID-19 security and checkpoint screening systems as well as system-wide testing protocols prior to surgery to advance safety initiatives for patients, team members and visitors at Baptist Health.

In addition, Dorsey was a critical leader of Baptist Health’s COVID-19 Vaccine Allocation Team, which has distributed more than 70,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine to patients, team members, physicians and community members since December.

Dorsey joined Baptist Health in 2014 as the assistant administrator of clinical and support services at Baptist Medical Center South. In his current role, he is responsible for an array of clinical and non-clinical support areas, including sleep services, imaging, laboratory, rehab, pharmacy, emergency management, environmental services, food and nutrition services, parking, security and more.

“Kyle is an outstanding servant leader,” said Michael A. Mayo, president and CEO of Baptist Health. “Baptist Health is fortunate to have his talents as a part of our leadership team to serve our community, and it is an honor to see his accomplishments recognized as one of Modern Healthcare’s Emerging Leaders.”
