The Ponte Vedra girls golf team had a successful event with several names near the top of the leaderboard during the Second Annual Jax Beach Invitational held at Jax Beach Golf Course Saturday, Sept. 18.
The Sharks finished third in the team competition with a score of 345, which was seven shots behind runner-up and host Providence (338) and 11 shots behind tournament winner Bolles (334.)
Leading the way towards the Sharks’ impressive result was a pair of individual performances by sophomore Tory Barned and junior Nancy Cox.
Barned shot a 75, just one shot back of champion Tori Mouton of Bolles, while Cox finished two back after shooting 76.
Cox wrapped up her third-place finish by winning a scorecard playoff over Providence senior Annabelle Mozingo, who also shot 76.
