BEAM seeks donations for back to school event

Beaches Emergency Assistance Ministry (BEAM) will hold its 23rd annual Back to School with BEAM event Aug. 6, during which they will distribute backpacks, school supplies, clothing and other necessary items for students in grades K-12.

BEAM is seeking donations of gently used and new clothing are needed, in addition to donations of new and gently used children and young adult books, new school supplies, new underwear and socks and monetary donations. Volunteers are also sought to assist at the event.

Donations may be dropped off at the BEAM office at 850 Sixthth Ave. S. in Jacksonville Beach and BEAM’s thrift store at 318 7th Ave. N in Jacksonville Beach or online at www.jaxbeam.org. Donations will also be accepted at a number of local churches and businesses.

The Back to School with BEAM event will take place at Beach Church, located at 325 Seventh Ave. N. in Jacksonville Beach from 8 a.m. to noon. Clients are asked to bring picture ID, proof of residency and social security cards or shot records for each child.

BEAM is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that helps low income families and individuals in the Jacksonville Beaches are emergencies and helps guide them to self-sufficiency.
