Berardi Golf Academy to host summer golf camps

Young golfers looking to improve their game will be able to sharpen their skills at weeklong instructional summer camps offered by the Berardi Golf Academy (BGA).

To be held at the Ponte Vedra Golf and Country Club from June through August, this year’s camps have been extended from four days to five days, and a Saturday middle school program has also been added. Appropriate for players who either have or feel they are ready to make the transition into tournament play, the BGA Summer Academy is a one-week, instructional program designed to hone swing fundamentals with a focus on playing experience, mental training, course management and scoring. All players will receive video instruction as well as personalized attention in a 6:1 maximum student to teacher environment. Players can take multiple week sessions as well as daily programming and private lessons.

“Working with junior golfers to help them get the most out of their game is my focus and my passion,” said John Berardi, a PGA Class-A certified professional instructor. “We have built a culture of excellence at BGA, and we combine a systematic method of technical instruction along with coaching and strategy so that our players can achieve their goals on and off the course.”

Berardi said that whether students come for one week or every week, the goals are the same as the full-time school-year academy: training a repeatable swing, developing solid short game and scoring techniques and developing positive practice skills in a structured environment. Student will also receive physical training advice – with an emphasis on core strength, flexibility and injury prevention – as well as guidance in goal setting and mental aptitude, process and awareness.

A typical day for Summer Academy students begins at 9 a.m. with golf training that includes putting, short game and full swing. Participants break for lunch at noon, then resume training at 1 p.m. with education seminars followed by three hours of on-course play and instruction.

“I am very excited about the summer program,” Berardi, said, “as it will give our students a chance to learn in an intensive academy setting, surrounded by other players, all who help motivate each other and who have fun doing it.”

Full day programs run weekly Monday through Friday beginning June 13. Tuition is $800 per week for the full day, with half-day programs and pricing available. Private lessons and playing lesson packages are also available. To register or for more information, call John Berardi at 904.571.7420 or by email at jberardipga@aol.com.
