Bluebird Kids Health, a pediatric provider focused on improving long-term outcomes for underserved children, celebrated the grand opening of its new clinic in Jacksonville on Wednesday, July 30. Chris Johnson, founder and CEO of Bluebird, is grateful for the opportunity to help more children.
“We are so excited to bring additional options of high-quality care for children in Jacksonville,” said Johnson.
Bluebird first established itself as one of the leaders in pediatric care in Florida in Palm Beach County. The new location on Jacksonville’s Westside opened at the beginning of July with the goal of being more accessible to more families.
“We are intentionally located in a very high visibility area within the community next to other resources that we know community members are accessing on a regular basis,” Johnson said.
Bluebird is also doing everything possible to make things easier on families.
“We are doing everything we can to make access to care frictionless. Whether you want to walk through our front door, or call us, or look us up on the internet, we are here to welcome folks in,” said Johnson. The new clinic has already been busy with kids getting ready to head back to school. Dr. Pamela Lindor, a pediatrician at Bluebird, said they are at the height of back-to-school season and that this is the perfect time of year for a checkup.
“This is a good opportunity for us to remind the kids that haven’t been in for a while that they are due for their yearly,” she said.
These checkups include screenings for developmental problems, emotional issues and social issues.
“We do these screenings so that we are hopefully able to provide resources for things that parents might not have thought to ask for,” Lindor said.
Taking precautionary measures now is important because, according to Lindor, the height of respiratory season is October to March. Viruses such as the flu and COVID-19 tend to circulate more around those times because children are back in school, people are getting together for the holidays, etc.
In October, Bluebird will be opening a second Jacksonville location, which will be located in the Brentwood area.
“We very much look forward to being your neighbors as we seek to improve access to care for children,” said Johnson.
