Southeastern Grocers pledges to offer 4-star BAP certified seafood by 2018
Southeastern Grocers pledged that by 2018 all of its farm-raised seafood will be 4-Star Best Aquaculture Certified (BAP).
The parent company of Winn-Dixie, Harveys and BI-LO said the initiative is part of its efforts to offer the highest-quality seafood using sustainable practices. Under the Global Aquaculture Alliance’s BAP rating system, the highest 4-star rating indicates that an aquafarm promotes quality habitat, social well-being, protected hatcheries and balanced nutrition. The company also stressed that its wild-caught seafood comes from reputable suppliers and sustainable environments, including dolphin-safe tuna.
