Candidate to offer free food truck meals to nursing assistants on Labor Day

Dave Rogers, a candidate for District 17 state representative, will offer free food truck meals to certified nursing assistants (CNAs) within his community on Labor Day to show appreciation for the work they do.

Rogers will host several food trucks to deliver quick, free lunches to CNAs in the Nocatee area from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the parking lot at Starling at Nocatee, 885 Crosswater Parkway.

A campaign media release stated that CNAs perform a physically and emotionally demanding job, providing an intimate level of care for some of the most vulnerable citizens, often for low wages and limited benefits.

Rogers said he wanted to find a way to acknowledge their selflessness.

“For the past six months, we have asked CNAs and other essential healthcare workers to risk their lives to care for our loved ones in assisted living and nursing homes,” he said in the media release. “I just want to show a token of my appreciation to them by hosting this grab-and-go lunch in my community on Labor Day.”

Lunches will be provided free with proper ID but everyone is welcome to come out, purchase a lunch and show their support for the nursing assistants. Social distancing restrictions will be observed.
