Kosher and new age foods from around the world will be available at Chabad at the Beaches’ Fourth Kosher Food Festival, to be held from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday Sept. 11 at the Cultural Center at Ponte Vedra Beach.
A wide array of delicacies from countries such as Argentina, Israel, Germany, Japan and Spain will be featured at the event, which will also include a memorial for 9/11, live entertainment, children’s activities and more.
This year’s event – which will be 100 percent dairy-free and certified kosher – will be hosted by restaurant owner and chef Masha Hleap. A native of Colombia, Hleap is the owner and top chef of Atlanta restaurant FuegoMundo. Meaning “world of fire,” FuegoMundo is one of the city’s most popular kosher restaurants, offering healthy, gourmet Latin cuisine that is suitable for both meat-lovers and vegetarians.
Organizers said previous food festivals have drawn record crowds, so the decision was made to move the event to the cultural center in order to accommodate more attendees.
“The last event two years ago was the largest Jewish event in Beaches history,” event coordinator Leah Kurinsky said. “This year, we found a venue large enough to hold a significant crowd.”
The menu has also been expanded significantly this year, she added.
Admission to the kosher food festival is $3 per person; those who register two or more people in advance at www.KosherFoodFest.com will receive a free ticket. There is an additional charge for food at the festival.
