Christ Church School of the Arts will present Broadway classic rock musical “Godspell” starting Thursday, April 4, with performances continuing through Saturday, April 13.

The play was the first major musical theatre offering from three-time Grammy and Academy Award winner, Stephen Schwartz (“Wicked,” “Pippin” and “Children of Eden”). Based on the Gospel according to Matthew, the play follows Jesus Christ as he recruits a group of followers and teaches them various lessons. His messages of kindness, tolerance and love come vibrantly to life. Directed by Daniel Osofsky, the cast includes members of local theater groups, university theater programs and the Christ Church parish.

The premier party and opening night will be held Thursday, April 4. The party is at 6:30 p.m., with the show beginning at 7:30 p.m. Additional performances will be held April 5 and 6 at 8 p.m.; April 11 at 7:30 p.m.; April 12 at 8 p.m.; and April 13 at 3 and 8 p.m.

Purchase tickets at christepiscopalchurch.org. General admission is $20 and preferred seating is $25. The cost to attend the opening night party is $40.
