Smiling faces, hard-working elves and the Christmas spirit were all a part of the K9s For Warriors Christmas tree decorating party that took place Monday, Dec. 14 at the K9s For Warriors headquarters located in Ponte Vedra.

Over a dozen trees were sponsored by local organizations, businesses and even schools as a fundraiser to help support K9s For Warriors programs. K9s For Warriors is an organization that pairs rescue dogs with military men and women suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder, traumatic brain injury or military sexual trauma to help veterans live healthy, independent lives.

This is the first Christmas that will be celebrated at the K9s For Warriors facility. The new 17,000 square foot facility, dubbed Camp K9, opened in May. Veterans in the program are housed in one of four individual homes designed to accommodate up to four soldiers each per three-week training session.

Tree sponsorships were $5,000 per tree. Sponsors included Fletcher High School, Advanced Disposal, Lulu’s Restaurant, North Florida Sales, Prism Group, R&D Landscape, Fidelity National Financial, Black Knight Financial, Swisher and FIS Global, among others.

The winning tree will be chosen during the K9s For Warriors VIP Christmas party this weekend. The group who decorated the winning tree will win the rights to name one of the K9s For Warriors dogs.
