COA Center at Flagler Health+ Village at Nocatee announces January 2022 events

The following programs will be held at COA Center at Flagler Health+ Village at Nocatee, 351 Town Plaza Ave., Suite 205, Ponte Vedra. Registration is required and space is limited. Unless specified otherwise, register by email to pbrunell@stjohnscoa.com or by calling 904-819-3234.

EDUCATIONAL CLASSES (Open to Adults 18+):

Learn Mah Jongg: This class is for beginners and people who have tried to play but are not comfortable with the basics. Wednesdays, Jan. 12, 19, 26 and Feb. 9 and 16. Class time: 3-5 p.m. for five weeks. Cost is $30. To register, go to https://coasjc.coursestorm.com/category/coa-center-at-nocatee.

Exercise 4 Brain Change Lecture: A free presentation by Melanie Lomaglio, DPT, board certified neurologic physical therapist from Stars Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapy. She specializes in treatment of people living with Parkinson’s disease and atypical Parkinson’s. Tuesday, Jan. 11, from 2 to 3:30 p.m.   

How to Read Food Labels: What you eat affects every aspect of who you are. Carla Defuria, MBA, RDN, LD/N, CPT is a registered dietitian and health coach at Flagler Health+ Village at Nocatee. She will show you how to know what you are eating so you can make good choices by reading labels. Wednesday, Jan. 12, from 10 to 11 a.m.

Mosaic Art Class: Easily create your own beautiful art with instructor Alice Lindholm. Wednesday, Jan. 19, from 10 a.m. to noon. Space is limited, and you must select your design from two designs in advance. Cost of supplies are $35 and will be paid to the instructor the day of class. 

What Happens If You Die Without a Will? The first in a series of lectures in 2022 by attorney Megan Wall, St. Johns County Legal Aid. Wednesday, Jan. 26, from 10 to 11 a.m.

FREE CLUBS AND MEETINGS:

No instructor will be present at any of events listed below. Meetings are self-guided by the group except for the Caregiver’s Support Group. Advance registration for clubs and meetings is required by calling 904-819-3234 or via email to pbrunell@stjohnscoa.com.

Travel Club: Learn about the fun trips available to you with the COA Travel Club. Help plan upcoming trips. Meeting Tuesday, Jan. 25, at 2 p.m. 

Widows and Widowers: Social group meeting the second and fourth Tuesday of every month from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Meeting on Jan. 11 and 25. 

Caregiver Support Group: All caregivers are welcome. Meets every Tuesday from 1 to 2 p.m. except holidays. There is a trained facilitator present at every meeting to guide the group.

Community Crafting: Bring your craft and work on it with friends. Get new ideas and socialize with other crafters. This group meets every Wednesday from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.

Genealogy Group: A genealogy expert will be present to guide you on the 3rd Wednesday of each month. January 19 from 1:00 to 2:30p.m.

Mah Jongg Meet Up: For experienced players. No instructor present. Wednesdays, Jan. 12 and 26, from 1 to 3 p.m. and Jan. 19 from 3 to 5 p.m.
