Collage Day School is hosting a free parent/educator workshop on The Reggio Emilia Approach on Thursday, Feb. 14 from 2 to 3 p.m. onsite at 171 Canal Blvd. in Ponte Vedra Beach.
Collage embraces The Reggio Emilia Approach, which is based on the concept that “intelligent children deserve intelligent teachers.” Guests will learn about this movement along with the value it brings to early childhood education. This approach is an educational philosophy focused on preschool and primary education based on viewing young children as individuals who are curious about their world and have powerful potential.
Reggio teachers employ four major strategies exposing children to educational opportunities that encourage self-expression, communication, logical thinking and problem solving. Each child is tracked along a specific learning journey. Its flexible and child-centric learning approach allows children to be immersed and to explore their learning tasks in greater depth. Meet a representative from Emilio Reggio at the Feb. 14 event.
The Collage Day School is an academically challenging, independent day school with the goal of empowering “exceptional education.” It is not specifically for special needs children.
Collage Day School is a member of the North American Reggio Emilia Alliance and a member of the Reggio Children International Network. It is a diverse community of advocates and educators promoting and defending the rights of children, families and teachers of all cultures through a collaboration of colleagues inspired by the Reggio Emilia experience, who seek to elevate both the quality of life and the quality of schools and centers for young children.
