Comcast Business named PLAYERS Proud Partner starting 2024

THE PLAYERS Championship has a new Proud Partner. Comcast Business announced Sunday, March 12, that it will take over the spot currently occupied by Grant Thornton beginning with the 2024 tournament. The arrangement will continue through 2030.

This partnership is actually an expansion of Comcast Business’s relationship with the PGA TOUR. It sponsors the Comcast Business TOUR TOP 10, which rewards the top players in the FedExCup standings at the end of the FedExCup regular season. A $20 million bonus is shared among the top 10 finishers. Scottie Scheffler, the winner of this year’s PLAYERS, received the $4 million first-place prize in 2022 after winning four times during last year’s season.

Comcast Business TOUR TOP 10 was launched in 2020.

“The PGA TOUR has enjoyed working alongside Comcast Business the last three years, and we are thrilled to now officially welcome them as a Proud Partner of our flagship event, THE PLAYERS Championship,” said PGA TOUR Commissioner Jay Monahan. “Their goal of helping business leaders achieve maximum business performance while keeping communities connected aligns perfectly with the mission of the PGA TOUR and the local charitable goals of THE PLAYERS Championship.”

Comcast Business will join current Proud Partners Optum and Morgan Stanley.

Grant Thornton, which has been a Proud Partner since 2018, is transitioning its sponsorship to the Grant Thornton Invitational. That tournament will debut Dec. 4-10 at Tiburón Golf Club and The Ritz-Carlton Naples, Tiburón in Naples, Florida. That event is co-sanctioned by the PGA TOUR and the LPGA.

“THE PLAYERS Championship is one of the PGA TOUR’s premier and most anticipated tournaments,” said Eileen Diskin, chief marketing officer, Comcast Business. “Comcast Business is thrilled to expand our partnership with the PGA TOUR to become a Proud Partner of this incredible, flagship event. We’re committed to serving business leaders on and off the course, keeping them ready for whatever lies ahead.”

Diskin was at THE PLAYERS last week, during which she had an opportunity to tour the facilities. Comcast Business will have hospitality suites at hole numbers 17 and 18.

“Our employees are excited about it,” she said. “Our sales teams love it because they get to come to places like this and connect with customers and prospective clients. It’s terrific.”

Comcast Business is the nation’s largest cable provider to small and mid-sized businesses and one of the leading service providers to the enterprise market. It serves the local market but also has a global footprint in more than 100 countries.

As a Proud Partner, Comcast Business will see its profile elevated.

Diskin said the company was excited that the PGA TOUR would be giving it a “very distinguished platform for us to bring our brand in to create more awareness, create more credibility and create more stature.”

“THE PLAYERS Championship is excited to welcome Comcast Business into our Northeast Florida home and Proud Partner family,” said Jared Rice, executive director of THE PLAYERS. “It is because of the backing of these Proud Partners that we can showcase one of the premier events in sports while giving back to the community that supports us. We look forward to connecting even further with Northeast Florida thanks to the efforts of Comcast Business.”
