Be a star of the show when you are photographed in a Ford Model-T by Pastime Tours. The gorgeous vintage automobile will be parked in front of Lewis Auditorium at Flagler College starting a 6:15 p.m. until just before showtime at 7:30 p.m. All those attending the Ragtime concert will be able to have photos taken by a professional photographer.

The EMMA Concert Association announced Peacherine Ragtime Society Orchestra will be the second concert of its 43rd season.

The concert will be 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Saturday, October 2, in Lewis Auditorium at Flagler College, located at 14 Granada St. in downtown St. Augustine.

The Peacherine Ragtime Society Orchestra is “the premier American ragtime ensemble,” recreating the syncopated stylings of a bygone era that included ragtime, theater and dance music, along with underscoring classic silent films.

The orchestra’s programs highlight the music of the late 1800s and early 1900s, with selections by composers such as Irving Berlin, George Gershwin, W.C. Handy, Eubie Blake, George M. Cohan, and of course, the King of Ragtime, Scott Joplin.

Silent film programs will feature the biggest names of the day (Charlie Chaplin, Buster Keaton, Harold Lloyd, Laurel & Hardy, Douglas Fairbanks and more), and have earned them worldwide recognition and fame.

“We are excited to bring beautiful live music back to our beautiful city,” said Joanne Everett, president of EMMA Board of Directors.

Tickets are $50 per guest and include parking and a shuttle to and from the venue. They can be purchased by going to www.emmaconcerts.com or call 904-797-2800.

Parking will not be available at Lewis Auditorium at Flagler College for this concert. Instead, parking will take place at the St. Johns County Council on Aging at 180 Marine St. in St. Augustine.

Guests will then be transported to and from the concert venue by a complimentary shuttle service.

Flagler College requires that all concert attendees wear masks in the auditorium.

Upcoming concerts during EMMA’s 43rd season include Holiday Pops by The Gainesville Orchestra on December 15; the world-renowned Vienna Boys Choir on February 5, 2022; the Russian National Orchestra on February 12, 2022; and Siberian Virtuosi on March 19, 2022.

The EMMA Concert Association started as a nonprofit by a small group of music lovers in April 1979. The organization was named after a famous Spanish cellist, Emil Maestre, who retired to St. Augustine.
