County launches ‘Reach the Beach’ app

Shuttles to run on holiday weekends

Posted

St. Johns County has launched a “Reach the Beach” mobile app aimed at helping residents and visitors spend less time in the car and more time on the beach.

Available in the App Store or through Google Play, the app provides current beach driving conditions, beach access locations, available amenities and facilities, lifeguard information and emergency contacts.

Apple and Android users can download the app for free by searching “St. Johns County Beaches” in the App Store or Google Play.

Holiday shuttles

In addition to the mobile app, St. Johns County will offer free shuttle service to Mickler’s Landing and the St. Johns County Ocean and Fishing Pier on holiday weekends this summer. The service – which debuted over the Memorial Day weekend – will operate from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 1-4 for Independence Day and Sept. 2-4 for Labor Day. The Mickler’s shuttle will transport beach visitors between Cornerstone Park at 1046 A1A North and Mickler’s Landing; the pier shuttle will transport beach visitors between St. Augustine Beach City Hall at 2200 A1A South and the pier parking lot, which provides direct access to Pier amenities and the beach. The shuttles will run every 20 minutes, with the final shuttles departing at 4 p.m. Service updates will be provided via the mobile app as well as on the St. Johns County Twitter feed and Facebook page.
