Members of the Cypress Village Croquet Club recently hosted the annual City of Jacksonville Senior Games “50 and Fit” Croquet events. Players from all around the city gathered at the community to play three rounds of elimination Golf Croquet and six Wicket Croquet.

Each year the City of Jacksonville presents The Forever Fit 50 & Beyond: Jacksonville Senior Games, an Olympic-style event series designed for seasoned athletes to participate on a competitive level and novice athletes to participate for their own enjoyment and promote healthy and active lifestyles for First Coast seniors.

Cypress Village hosted 20 players over the two days as part of the ongoing festivities, and players were awarded medals for their standings from the City of Jacksonville. Cypress Village residents Madeline Grader and Syd Balsbaugh, playing as a team, took home the Gold Medal. Players from Fleet Landing received the Silver, and George Wilson and Edie Barret won the Bronze.

“All in all, it was a beautiful day on our newly re-furbished courts,” Cypress Village resident Gene Bland said. “Visitors were very pleased with the Boat House setting and the natural turf courts. Thanks go especially to long-time player Madeline Grader for help with the logistics of the morning.”

Cypress Village is slated to host the games again in 2020.
