Cypress Village shares a slice with Fire Station 59

The past year has been a difficult one for everyone, but no one has been more affected by the stress from the COVID-19 pandemic than first responders and health care workers.

In a show of solidarity between essential personnel, Cypress Village shared a slice of their custom-made pizzas from the Loon’s Nest Bar & Grill with the firefighters at their local fire station. The community is located less than two miles away from the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, as well as Jacksonville Fire Station 59.

Cypress Village’s new assisted living and memory care sales manager, Jennifer Rapp, wanted to reach out to the local team at Station 59 and thank them for all they do for the community, and how they work tirelessly to keep the neighborhood safe. She stopped by the station with homemade Cypress Cookies (a secret recipe of the community and a resident favorite) and met the team, before deciding to bring homemade pizzas the next week for the whole crew.

Cypress Village has a state-of-the-art kitchen as a part of their Loon’s Nest Bar & Grill, and was recently renovated to include a pizza oven, so it was the perfect thing to share with the crew at Station 59.

The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department serves about 950,000 residents in an area covering 840 square miles. The department employs approximately 1,600 personnel, and Fire Station 59 is one of 73 locations in the Jacksonville area.

The team serves both the Mayo Clinic and Cypress Village area, making them an essential part of the health care and first responders’ effort in the area.

When asked why she felt driven to bring by the pizzas unprompted, Rapp said, “It feels right to support the team that works so hard in our backyard, and they are always available at the shortest notice” and the whole team at Cypress Village wanted to express their appreciation for what the crew at Station 59 does on a daily basis.

Cypress Village is a continuing care retirement care community in Jacksonville that offers residents an outstanding standard of living with all the services, amenities and multiple levels of care. Located adjacent to the Mayo Clinic, Cypress Village and its homes and apartments are on a 120-acre campus.
