For many, Facebook Live streams, YouTube and radio broadcast sermons brought the church to churchgoers, making a safe and effective way to deliver a small amount of normalcy and connection for those looking to celebrate their faith.
At the Passion City Church in Atlanta, even a special message from football star and Niece High player, Tim Tebow was livestreamed, among several other guest appearances.
“He wants a relationship with you that will never be severed,” Tebow said on an April 12 livestream from the church. “That’s why Easter is so amazing.”
The former Florida Gators quarterback later tweeted he was honored to join the Passion City Church in Atlanta for Sunday’s sermon along with Louie Giglio, the pastor, and Sadie Robertson Huff, actress and reality television star on the A&E show Duck Dynasty.
Local catholic church, Our Lady Star of the Sea, featured a number of ways their members can keep in touch with its faith community and Easter service, including Facebook livestreams during Holy Week, weekly Liturgy of the Hours via Facebook, Music Ministry weekly Zoom check-ins and a MyParish App for communication and inspirational messages.
OLSS’s Easter Sunday Facebook livestream drew in more than 1,000 views at its 9 a.m. service, which was recorded at the church.
“We want to recognize that wherever you’re at, God’s praying here with you,” said Father Matt King of OLSS in a weekly livestream prayer. “His presence is with you and your family during this time.”
