Edward (Ted) Lewis Spetnagel III

Edward ('Ted') Lewis Spetnagel III, 88, of St. Louis, MO and formerly of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL and Wyoming, OH passed away on October 26, 2023 of natural causes. The eldest of three sons born to Edward Lewis Jr. and Jane Spencer Spetnagel, Ted was born in Toledo, OH on September 18, 1935. After his family moved to Scarsdale, NY, Ted attended Edgemont local schools, then Choate-Rosemary prep school, and finally Dartmouth college (’57), where he majored in history, was a member of Alpha Delta Phi fraternity, played rugby, and ran cross-country. Afterwards, Ted served briefly in the Army then was a successful salesman and sales manager with the Continental Can Company, where he worked for close to 20 years while living in the Midwest. Ted was friendly and fun-loving, and thoroughly loved and enjoyed his family, friends, sports, travel, business, investing, and philanthropy throughout his life. Ted was preceded in passing by his beloved wife of 50+ years Judy (Edmonson) (2022); his first wife Emily (Webber) (1959), who tragically passed with complications related to birthing his first son Steven; and his two brothers Jan Venn and Richard Spencer Spetnagel. Ted is survived by sons Steven, David and Thomas.
