Evan Robert Policastro passed away at age 10 on September 6, 2023, while innocently riding his bicycle home from the bus stop, a daily routine he cherished. His loving parents, Jared and Jenifer, were by his side at Wolfson Children’s Hospital.

Evan was born on May 23, 2013, and spent his entire life in St. Johns County. He was a fifth-grade student at PVPV-Rawlings Elementary School, where he excelled academically. Evan was a young Renaissance man with a wide range of interests, including sports, reading, chess, and holding the distinction of a 1st Degree Black Belt. He was a passionate Jacksonville Jaguars and Florida State Seminoles fan. Evan loved playing in the many flag football seasons over the years and just started playing basketball. Evan's enthusiasm extended to helping his football coach (his father!) diagram plays.

In addition to his parents, Evan leaves behind his heartbroken family: sisters, Sophie (12) and Lena (8), brother, James (5), paternal grandparents, Mary and Jerry Policastro, maternal grandfather, Donny Rainey, as well as aunts and uncles, Marcy and Tom Frick, Eric and Abby Policastro, and cousins, Lucy and Asher. Evan was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Laurie Rainey.

A memorial service will be held at the Sawgrass Marriott Hotel on September 16, 2023, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. A private graveside service will be held for immediate family.

With Evan’s passion for reading, the family is asking for donations in his memory be made to the library at PVPV-Rawlings Elementary School, https://bit.ly/Evansbooks or located at 610 A1A N, Ponte Vedra Beach, FL 32082.

Although Evan's absence will be deeply felt every day, his zest for life, cheerful smile, heartwarming laughter, and the ability to make others laugh, along with his gentle and kind heart, remain alive and well with the many families, friends, and loved ones with whom he shared his life.
