The Addison of St. Johns hosted Fashion Fusion, an afternoon of fashion, refreshment and raffle prizes, to benefit the ReBloom Center on Saturday, July 25. The Addison, a 61-unit assisted living and memory care community, raised funds for ReBloom’s exercise programs, which give participants a better chance of slowing the progression of Parkinson’s.
The Addison had a full house for Fashion Fusion. Guests mingled while enjoying delicious charcuterie cups and placed their tickets in raffle prize drawings. Before the fashion show began, Carrie Conrad, sales director at The Addison, thanked their team and sponsors for their hard work to make Fashion Fusion a reality.
Conrad introduced Peggy Johnson, owner of the Petunia Patch, who provided the season’s latest fashions for the show.
“She’s committed to making people look good, and when we look good, we feel good,” Conrad said.
The audience cheered as the residents modeled their stylish outfits with enthusiasm and flair. The room was full of energy and joy as family and friends watched their loved ones shine and soak up the spotlight.
After the show, Melanie Lomaglio, the founder of ReBloom Center, shared her appreciation for the partnership between The Addison St. Johns and the ReBloom Center. She spoke about ReBloom’s three-pronged approach: exercise, education and socialization. Their exercise program includes yoga, boxing, functional mobility training, pickleball and rock climbing.
“Most recently, we started a strength training program for caregivers because caregivers don’t take care of themselves because they are too busy taking care of their loved one who is fighting against Parkinson’s,” Lomaglio said.
This year, one of their missions is to increase their services for caregivers. Medical professionals will speak at ReBloom’s annual symposium in August to provide more education on Parkinson’s. ReBloom also provides support groups for men, women and care givers and hosts fun social events like Fashion Fusion throughout the year.
The afternoon concluded with an exciting raffle drawing. Fashion Fusion was an uplifting and joyful occasion for guests and residents alike.
