Affordable family fun is returning to the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville on Thursday, April 4, when the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp kick off their 2019 season with Opening Night.
Over the span of 70 fun-filled home dates, the Jumbo Shrimp have planned 22 fireworks dates, 13 giveaways, five free military appreciation nights and two specialty jersey auctions. The club also has a lineup of theme nights ranging from the World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail (Sauce) Party (May 31), where the Jumbo Shrimp will offer a #CrustaceanNation take on a Jacksonville tradition, to Ramen Noodle Night (June 22), when the team will celebrate the oldest anniversary in the history of Minor League Baseball with the 4,000th anniversary of the Ramen Noodle. On “Florida Man” Night (July 26), the Jumbo Shrimp and Jacksonville will break a weird Florida law in every single inning.
The Jumbo Shrimp will look to make history on July 30 for Dreams Come True (literal) 2 for Tuesday presented by Community First Credit Union. The club and Dreams Come True are partnering up as they welcome one Jacksonville Dreamer and a parent to be the only two people in the ballpark … to set a Southern League attendance record of just two people. The Dreamer will throw out the first pitch and on Authentic Jersey Giveaway Night, those first two people through the gate will each receive an authentic Jumbo Shrimp jersey. Outside the ballpark on this night, the club will hold a party beyond the Budweiser Tiki Terrace with a group singing of “Take Me Out To The Ballgame” to celebrate the Dreamer in style.
Halfway to Pumpkin Spice Night (April 27) will feature Pumpkin Spice Shrimp available at concession stands to a myriad of Pumpkin Spice prizes. The team will also give away 2,000 Jumbo Shrimp coffee tumblers to the first 2,000 fans to help celebrate the midway point in the calendar to pumpkin delight. In addition, the club will celebrate another mile marker on July 24 for National Drive Thru Day. The Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville will turn into the world’s largest drive thru as cars come through each inning to grab their food from right field.
"Because of all the incredible support we have received in our first two years as the Jumbo Shrimp, we wanted to make sure our 2019 promotional calendar reflects our core values of affordable family fun,” Jumbo Shrimp general manager Harold Craw said. “We have strived to expand many of our popular promotions, such as fireworks shows and giveaways, while offering new entertainment and fun for each fan who comes to the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville.”
The Jumbo Shrimp’s family fun is reflected in each of their weekly specials, leading off with up-close, memorable experiences for the youngest fans. These specials include Baptist Health Sunday Family FUNdays, Community First Credit Union Two For Tuesdays, NAPA Family Fireworks and Red Shirt Fridays, and Giveaway Saturdays, among others.
