On July 2, the First Coast YMCA celebrated the grand opening of its new World Golf Village location at Flagler Health+ Village in the Murabella community with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The YMCA and Flagler Health+ will provide area residents with one-stop access to a wide range of health services for children, adults and families.

The ceremony kicked off a week of grand opening festivities to welcome its new neighbors. Class demonstrations, health screenings and fun activities for kids were free and open to the community, along with new membership specials for those seeking to join the YMCA. The final celebration was held at a family cookout on July 6, featuring balloon artists and a bounce house water slide.

“At the Y, our cause is strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility,” said Eric K. Mann, president and CEO of the YMCA of Florida’s First Coast. “Partnerships like this one with Flagler Health+ are critical. We know this new location will have a positive impact on the growing Northwest St. Johns County community for generations to come.”

The new location includes access to an expansive wellness center for individual and group fitness for all ages and skill levels. The center will provide nutritional services, as well as weight loss and chronic disease prevention programs.

The Y will also offer youth development programs, such as summer camps, youth sports leagues, a KidZone and Teen Center to provide fitness and other educational opportunities for children of all ages.

“Social responsibility” opportunities will also be available to help give back to its neighbors. The Y is currently collecting backpacks and school supplies for local military families.
