The annual Florida Georgia game will take place Saturday, Nov. 1 at Everbank Stadium in Jacksonville. This rivalry game is one fans look forward to every year, and this year is no different.
The fifth ranked Bulldogs will be looking for their fourth straight win as they take on the Gators.
Georgia is currently in third place in the SEC and one of four one-loss teams. The Bulldogs are looking to secure a spot in the playoffs, but to do that they are going to need to improve in some key areas to finish out the regular season. Their defense has not been bad, but it has not been as good as in years past. One of the things that stands out in their loss to Alabama on Sept. 27 is the number of missed tackles. Georgia’s defense has given up over 30 points on two separate occasions and are ranked 93rd in third-down conversion percentages.
The Gators are the underdogs heading into the matchup, but quarterback DJ Lagway is fully healthy and has led Florida to a victory in two of their last three games. Lagway has continued to improve as the season has gone on showing improved accuracy, increased mobility and better arm strength.
The Gators will no doubt put pressure on Georgia quarterback Gunner Stockton. Florida’s defense sacked Texas quarterback Arch Manning six times in their 29-21 victory over the Longhorns on Oct. 4. They will have to be on top of their game against Stockton because he has plenty of help starting with receiver Zachariah Branch. Brach has 35 receptions totaling 362 yards on the season for the Bulldogs.
Georgia leads the series against Florida 57-44-2, and they have won the last four in a row. They will be looking to make that five in row this year, but Florida is going to make them work for it.
