Get behind the wheel of a Porsche at Ponte Vedra Auto Show

The Ponte Vedra Auto Show is back at full speed and with it, is the Porsche dealership, offering test drives on a wide range of models for both Porsche enthusiasts and curious guests.

“People can sign up for test drives the day of the Auto Show at the Porsche tent,” said Porsche retail support specialist, Tierney Anderson.

Anderson also mentioned that test drives will be around Nocatee Parkway and its surrounding on and off ramps, but routes may change, depending on the instructors the day of the show.

“This is the third or fourth year they’ve done that with Porches,” said Auto Show head judge, Ken Perry. “Spectators get introduced to the brand and obviously, Porsche is doing very well. They’ve branched out from just sports cars to the SUVs and the sedans.”

Regardless of the course or model, General Manager of Porsche Jacksonville, Moe Ghanimah, guarantees this will be a test drive like no other.

“You’re going to experience one of the best handling vehicles on the road today,” he said. “Porsche handles like nothing else out there. People are always looking forward to it (the test drives) and we book drivers from start to finish.”

Ghanimah also mentioned that most of the cars available will have a Porsche Doppelkupplung, or PDK, which translates to Porsche double-clutch transmission.

The PDK is a 7-speed transmission that offers “extremely fast gear changes with no interruption in the flow of power,” according to Porsche’s official website.

“It’s just like driving an automatic car,” Ghanimah said. “It does everything automatically and with pinpoint accuracy.”

The Porsche Test Drive sign-up tent will be located near the Fields Auto Group tent at the Ponte Vedra Auto Show and drivers must be 21 or older to test drive the vehicles.

“It’s a fun event,” Ghanimah said. “It’s an exclusive car and an exclusive experience.”
