Ballots must be mailed by Thurs., Oct 29

Over 17,000 absentee ballots have been mailed to St. Johns County voters for the Nov. 3rd Special Referendum Election. About half of these ballots have been voted and returned. This means approximately 7,000 voters still have their absentee ballots in hand.

Changes to the postal standards for delivery of first class mail: is now 3-5 days for local mail delivery. You must mail your ballot no later than Thursday so it reaches the Elections Office by 7 p.m. election day, Nov. 3rd. If your ballot is late, it will not be counted.

There are other options for returning your voted absentee ballot to the Elections Office.

• Red absentee ballot drop boxes available through Nov. 3rd. The drop boxes are available at all public libraries, St. Aug. Beach City Hall and the Ponte Vedra & Julinton Creek Tax Offices during their regular business hours. They will be picked up on election day (Nov. 3rd) at 5 p.m.

• You may return your voted absentee ballot to any of the 6 early voting sites during early voting.

• There is also a 24-hour absentee ballot drop box located in front of the Supervisor of Elections Office.

Even if you received an absentee ballot, you may still choose to vote in person during early voting or at your precinct on election day.

Early voting continues through Oct. 31. Hours are9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily at all locations: Julington Creek Annex, Ponte Vedra Branch Library, Supervisor of Elections Office, St. Augustine Beach City Hall, Southeast Branch Library and Hastings Town Hall.
