High school baseball coming to a close

Regular season high school baseball is starting to wind down, but the Ponte Vedra Sharks are not done winning just yet as they beat the St. Augustine Yellow Jackets 11-2 on April 3.

Max Mracek was the starter for the Sharks, only giving up two earned runs off two hits. He also recorded five strikeouts.

Storm Lickliter had a big night for the Sharks, going two-for-three with three runs, three RBI and one home run. Steele Lickliter went two-for-four with two RBI and one double for Ponte Vedra.

The Sharks will close out their regular season this week with games against the First Coast Buccaneers on April 9 and against the St. Joseph Academy Fighting Flashes on April 10.

The Beachside Barracudas defeated the Fleming Island Golden Eagles 1-0 on April 1.

Christian Capriglione pitched the shutout for the Barracudas as he continues to remain a steady constant on the mound this season. As of the game against the Golden Eagles, he had not given up more than two hits in eight consecutive appearances.

Gavin Nickel went two-for-three with one double for Beachside.

The Barracudas kept it rolling the following night as the beat the Ed White Commanders 4-0 on April 2. Aidan Kuglar did not give up any earned runs on the mound and he went one-for-one with one stolen base, one run and one RBI.

Zack Gwaltney went two-for-three with one stolen base and one run for the Barracudas.

Beachside’s last two games of the regular season will be against the Nease Panthers and First Coast.

The Creekside Knights defeated the St. Johns Country Day Spartans 2-1 on April 2.

Aramis Guanchez went two-for-four with one stolen base and one double for the Knights. As of this game, the Knights have won eight of their last nine.

Creekside’s last game of the regular season will be on April 14 against the Atlantic Coast Stingrays.
