Hometown Hero’s Ride set for Saturday, April 12

Posted

The fourth annual Hometown Hero’s Ride on Saturday April 12, will support a Vietnam veteran who is a lifelong St. Johns County resident and decorated U.S. Marine sergeant. He earned two Purple Hearts and two Bronze Stars during his military career. Severely wounded during the war, he was medically retired in 1970 and now lives as a 100% disabled veteran. The funds raised from this event will be used to help with the reconstruction and restoration of his residence. His house has deteriorated to the point of being uninhabitable.

The event will begin and end at Adamec Harley-Davidson of St. Augustine, 380 Outlet Mall Blvd., St. Augustine. Registration will run from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m., and the ride will start at 11 a.m. The cost is $25 per motorcycle, and the first 300 registered bikes receive an event T-shirt. Complimentary lunch and beverages will be available, along with live music and a variety of vendors.

Autocycles, such as Slingshots or T-REX, are not allowed.

The fundraiser, which was first organized in 2022 to honor retired Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office Detective Lonnie Mills, was so successful that it became an annual event

The fundraiser benefits Builders Care, the charitable arm of the Northeast Florida Builders Association and is presented in coordination with the Veteran Enforcers Motorcycle Association St. Johns County Chapter and Adamec Harley-Davidson of St. Augustine. Builders Care provides first responders and military veterans in Northeast Florida needed home modifications due to injury or illness.
