Jacksonville Jaguars’ Wide Receiver Allen Robinson hosted his inaugural Back to School program last week, providing 30 Jacksonville-area children from the Boys & Girls Club of Northeast Florida with a shopping spree at Academy Sports & Outdoors.

Robinson accompanied children as they roamed the aisles, selecting shoes, clothing, sports accessories, backpacks and school supplies to their carts. Each child also took home a signed football.

“I can’t think of a better way to spend the evening than by helping kids get ready to head back to school this fall,” Robinson said. “These kids are bright, funny and many have aspirations of being future Jaguars players themselves. I hope they got as much out of our Back to School event as I did. It will always be a priority for me to make time for Jacksonville’s youth.”

The back to school event was a community outreach initiative of Allen Robinson’s Within Reach Foundation. The foundation’s mission is to provide educational opportunities and resources to low-income and inner city Jacksonville-area students to help put success within their reach. Through his foundation, Robinson said he plans to make the back to school initiative an annual event. Last month, Robinson also hosted a Celebrity Surf & Turf dinner to raise funds for the foundation. Attended by more than 100 guests, the event raised more than $90,000 to support the foundation’s mission to give back to local youth.
