Joe Mark and Scott Jackson to perform at Beluthahatchee

The next Sundays at Stetson’s concert will be held May 21 and will feature two exceptional Florida folk musicians, Joe Mark of St. Augustine and Scott Jackson of the Ocala area. The music starts at 2 p.m. at the outdoor space, weather permitting, otherwise indoors.

Reservations are not required, though a $10 donation is requested per guest to help support the non-profit mission.

The concert will be held at Beluthahatchee Park, 1523 State Road 13, Fruit Cove.

Songwriter and visual artist Mark has been performing at music festivals around Florida for more than 50 years. First invited to the Florida Folk Festival at White Springs by cousin Thelma Boltin in 1968, he began a long journey of playing guitar and singing folk music and his original songs at festivals and coffee houses around the state. In addition to playing Irish fiddle tunes, he also sings along to traditional old-time tunes on the fiddle.

Mark has many stories and fond memories of sharing stages with many of the folk music legends of Florida like Gamble Rogers, Jeanie Fitchen, Dale Crider, Bob Patterson and many more.

Jackson was born and raised in Miami. His father taught him how to play the guitar and the banjo at a young age, which formed the basis of his musical foundation. He won first and second place in the Will Mclean Florida folk song contest in 2021 and continues to perform at several folk festivals around the state. He currently lives near Ocala where he has been operating a family dental practice since 1998.
