K9s For Warriors held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday, Jan. 20, to celebrate the completion of the Duffield Veterinary Clinic.
K9s For Warriors is a nonprofit organization whose national headquarters is in Ponte Vedra Beach. They provide trained service dogs to military veterans nationwide suffering from PTSD and other military-related trauma at no financial cost to the veteran. To date, K9s has paired more than 1,200 veterans with service dogs and rescued more than 2,000 dogs. In 2026, K9s will celebrate its 15th anniversary.
The work K9s for Warriors does plays a vital role in the lives of so many veterans.
“Our impact and our responsibility to serve our warriors has never been greater than it is right now,” said Wyatt Haynes, chief K9 and business officer.
Haynes, originally from New York, is a Navy veteran who was stationed in Florida and decided to make it home.
This project, which is thanks in large part to the financial contribution of the Dave and Cheryl Duffield Foundation, started in 2020 and finally broke ground last spring.
Before this new clinic became a reality, K9s had to rely on help from around the community to arrange medical care for their dogs. Now, this new state-of-the-art facility will allow them to care for their service dogs right on their own campus.
“This consistency and efficiency is critical and ensures that we are equipped not just for today but for the next 15 years,” said Haynes.
The clinic features surgery and recovery suites, multiple exam rooms, a lab and pharmacy, in addition to a laundry and biohazard room. The clinic will support the growing number of service dogs trained at K9s For Warriors and enhance the organization’s ability to deliver high-quality veterinary care in a timely manner.
