When it comes to mother and daughter power houses in Northeast Florida, Linda Sherrer and her daughter, Christy Budnick, come to mind.

As CEO and executive vice president, respectively, of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Florida Network Realty, the dynamic duo are Beaches residents and fell into working together when Budnick joined the company in 2002 as the branch manager of the company’s Beaches office. Sherrer founded the company in 1988.

“I admire Christy’s tenacity and focus on growth and success. From day one, we had the same expectations and goals,” Sherrer said.

Budnick grew up in the world of real estate and that was what ultimately influenced her to make the transition from banking to realty. Budnick said she spent many a weekend as a child stuffing marketing collateral, walking neighborhoods and measuring houses with her sister and her mother.

The pair has said that they are often asked if they don’t tire of working together, but the answer to that is a resounding “no,” according to Budnick. In fact, the two enjoy spending time together so much that Sherrer recently built a home a block away from her daughter in the same Atlantic Beach neighborhood so that she could spend even more time with her daughter and granddaughter, Cate. They even enjoy vacationing with each other.

“Our relationship has become stronger and closer since we have worked together,” Budnick said. “I have always looked at Linda not only as my Mom, but as a best friend. Working with her on a business level has made me appreciate our close bond even more.”

Sherrer agreed.

“There is an incredible connection that happens when working together that I believe can only occur with two people who are as close as a mother and daughter,” Sherrer said. “Working with my daughter is rewarding on so many levels. Not only do I have a front-row seat to her growth and success, but I am able to share in her life to a degree that would make many mothers envious."
