Local community leaders to ‘Get Soaked’ to fight ALS

Posted

Local community leaders are stepping up to get drenched to fight ALS on Sept. 16 at the CEO Soak Jacksonville event presented by VyStar Credit Union. The event, hosted by the ALS Association, engages community leaders to get soaked for ALS while challenging colleagues and peers to do whatever it takes to find treatments and a cure.

Every 90 minutes, someone is diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a progressive neurodegenerative disease affecting nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. ALS robs people of the ability to walk, talk and eventually breathe. Through an extensive network, the ALS Association is on the ground in all 50 states providing support for people living with ALS and their loved ones by ensuring they have access to critical care programs and services.

Inspired by the Ice Bucket Challenge, the CEO Soak has quickly grown to become an entertaining and engaging opportunity for corporate changemakers to support the ALS Association. Local community leaders raise funds and awareness while getting soaked in their business attire.

The CEO Soak presents a unique opportunity for leaders to network and boost company morale all while making an impact towards the common goal of making ALS a livable disease and ultimately, finding a cure.

CEO Soak time is 5:30 p.m. at Intuition Ale Works, 929 E. Bay St., Jacksonville.

There is no known cause or cure for ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, and it is always fatal. All proceeds from this event will benefit the ALS Association to support cutting-edge global research, nationwide advocacy and local care services.

Participating Soak ambassadors in this year’s event, who will be on hand to get soaked include Anthony Hucker, CEO, Winn Dixie, and Jason Miller, managing partner, Morgan and Morgan.
