High school football was in full swing this past Friday, Aug. 29. The Fletcher Senators defeated the Terry Parker Braves 45-8. Senators quarterback Cruz James Bajek threw for 320 yards and five touchdowns. Diondre Smith racked up 156 receiving yards and had three scores on the night. Fletcher is now 2-0 and will play in front of their home crowd on Friday, Sept. 5 against Atlantic Coast.
Bartram Trail lost to Ponte Vedra 48-14. Bears quarterback Coleson Baum was certainly not to blame for the loss as he threw for 148 yards, rushed for 65 yards and had a pair of touchdowns.
The Bears are now 0-2 and will return home Sept. 5 to face Ware County.
The Providence School Stallions fell to Carrollwood Day 56-0. Kameron Battle of Carrollwood Day rushed for 166 yards and three touchdowns. Carrollwood Day is now 2-0 thanks in large part to their offense as they have averaged 42 points per game this season. The Stallions are now 0-2 but will look to change that as they host Palatka on Sept. 5.
