Local historian hosts special guests for presentation on Nazi U-Boat attack off Jax Beach

Local historian Scott Grant recently hosted some special guests at a presentation he delivered on the 1942 Nazi U-boat sinking of the SS Gulf America oil tanker off the coast of Jacksonville Beach. Displayed with Grant (left) is Katrin Nielsen of Holland (center), the granddaughter of the chief engineer of the U-boat, and Henrik Henriksen, a European expert on the Nazi U-boat campaign. Together, Nielsen and Henriksen have discovered artifacts that detailed her grandfather’s experiences during the war. While in town, Grant showed them the local landmarks the Nazis used to navigate the waters.
