Ascension St. Vincent’s St. Johns County has been named one of the top hospitals in the country for nurse communication.

Becker’s compiled a list of hospitals rated 5 stars for nurse communication in each state, according to the CMS’ Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems data. St. Vincent’s St. Johns County is one of only four hospitals in Florida to achieve this rating.  “We are truly blessed to have wonderful leaders, nurses, providers and allied health modalities living our mission out loud daily,” said Sean McAfee, chief nursing officer of Ascension St. Vincent’s St. Johns County. “Every decision we make is with our patients in mind, and this recognition represents the standard of care at our hospital.” CMS shares 10 HCAHPS star ratings based on publicly reported HCAHPS measures. For nurse communication, data from HCAHPS survey questions are used. These questions summarize how well patients feel that their nurses explained things clearly, listened carefully to them and treated them with courtesy and respect.

The data was collected between October 2023 and September 2024 and released on Aug. 6.
