Local senior golfer finishes strong at recent amateur tournament

George Halvorsen, a 76-year-old Marsh Landing golfer, finished only two strokes behind the 31-year-old winner of the Palmer Flight of the Golf Channel’s amateur tournament at TPC Sawgrass on Sunday, July 8. Halvorsen often competes against players who are more than 40 years younger than him. Last year, he won so many of the Golf Channel’s local tournaments in its Hogan Flight (which plays from the white tees), that the Golf Channel moved him to the Palmer Flight (which plays from the blue tees).
