Marian Edwards, 83, of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, passed away suddenly on May 16th, 2024 due to heart complications. Marian was born August 3rd, 1940 in Gillingham, Kent, United Kingdom to Doris Alice and Herbert George Goodenough. She was raised by her mother and stepfather, Charles Burnet, in Newquay, Cornwall and is predeceased by her brother, Max. She met her love and partner for life, Thomas Henry Edwards (Tommy), while he was performing at the Golders Green Hippodrome, in the Gang show in London, through a mutual friend who was also in the show. They had three sons: Bruce, Marcus, and Christopher. In the mid 1960’s, they moved to the United States and spent over 30 years in Verona, New Jersey and Greenwich, Connecticut before retiring to Ponte Vedra Beach in Northeast Florida.

Marian was a generous and kind spirit. She loved tennis and her friends. She was active in the Rita Foundation and was a past chairperson of the Senioritas at Sawgrass, raising money and awareness on behalf of research and patient services for local hospitals. She started a Senioritas endowment in honor of Marian and Tommy Edwards which benefits the Baptist Foundation. She was also past president of the Sawgrass Women's club. Marian had a terrific sense of humor and quick wit. She enjoyed a long lunch and good conversation. Her generosity and kindness will be greatly missed and she will be always loved and admired. She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years; sons; daughters in law, Diana and Kristin; and beloved grandchildren: Henry, Grace, Lillian, and Vivian.

A private family service will be held in the coming days. However, all who held Marian dear are invited to join the family for a celebration of her life, at the Sawgrass Beach Club, on June 7th at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Rita Foundation through their website at the-rita-foundation.org.
