Medure brothers open new concept near St. Johns Town Center

Brothers David and Matthew Medure recently opened Midtown Table, a new restaurant located near St. Johns Town Center, at 5016 Gate Parkway in Jacksonville

The Italian-inspired eatery is open and bright, with colorful abstracts around the walls and simple, but effective, decor.

“We have five different concepts and eight restaurants, but this one is true to our upbringing,” Chef Matthew Medure said. “I have an Italian father and Syrian mother, so this is what we ate growing up.”

Guests can start their culinary journey with a cheese and charcuterie board, avalable during lunch and dinner, topped with artisan cheeses and cured meats, mustard, jam, cornichons and rosemary crackers.

Add a little kick to the experience and pair the board with signature cocktails like the Short Round, the Lemon Basil Manhattan or one of the 20 beer selections on tap.

Continue the journey with a classic Italian-American entree created by Italian immigrants in New Orleans, the muffaletta, filled with Italian meats and cheeses and topped with pepperoncini. If looking for a more traditional meal, choose from one of Midtown's pasta selections.

“My personal favorite is the taglierini,” Medure said. “The one for lunch is a Rosa sauce with shrimp. At night, it’s fresh clams, tomatoes and red pepper flakes.”

And the kitchen staff prepares everything to order.

“The clams are super tender and it also comes with homemade croutons, so your bread is mixed right in,” Medure added. “We stir it all together with extra virgin olive oil and it’s just such a great texture.”

For a less pescatarian dish, Midtown Table bartender Joel Mesa suggests the Radiatori.

“We’re selling a lot of that,” Medure said. “Our Radiatori pasta is fresh and goes with a bolognese. It’s just a very comfortable dish, well-known by everyone.”

Customers can walk off their meals by visiting the back patio, filled with yard games and fire pits for the chilly weather.

Medure also plans on having an outdoor summer kitchen, with hopes of holding events starting in the spring, and grab-and-go and take-out options for businesses in the area at its soon-to-be market, located at the front of the restaurant, with an “Italian-market feel.”

“It’s more casual and upbeat, with faster-paced service yet still, a lovely atmosphere,” he said overall about his new concept.

“It’s super fresh, all done from scratch and we are all here and ready to serve.”
