Mickler’s to reopen Saturday

Sand placement moves north

Mickler's Landing Beachfront Park will not be used as a staging site for the FEMA Dune Enhancement Project during the busy summer beach season.

Public use of the parking lot and beach access will be reinstated beginning Saturday, May 21. The contractor, Continental Heavy Civil, is currently working to ensure Mickler’s is ready for public use and will address the wear and tear caused at Mickler’s in the coming weeks.

The post-construction cleanup includes repairing and repainting the parking lot and clearing all construction equipment and debris. A full restoration of Mickler’s Landing Beachfront Park, including repaving will occur after the summer beach season. Beachgoers are encouraged to exercise caution while post-construction cleanup is under way.

Now that the sand placement south of Mickler’s is complete, the contractor has moved to the next portion of the project on the northern reach of Ponte Vedra Beach.

Designated travel lanes for construction vehicles have been set up in front of the oceanfront beach clubs along Ponte Vedra Boulevard. Pedestrians are urged to exercise caution due to heavy equipment carrying sand to and from the project site.

Additionally, beachgoers should stay away from the FEMA Dune Enhancement Project areas and equipment in north Ponte Vedra Beach.

The proposed completion date for the FEMA Dune Enhancement Project is fall 2022.
