One of Noel Coward’s most popular English drawing room comedies will be performed locally this weekend, when the Allen D. Nease High School Drama Department presents its production of “Blithe Spirit.”
To be performed Thursday, April 6 and Friday, April 7 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, April 9 at 2 p.m. in the high school’s Performing Arts Center, “Blithe Spirit” begins as novelist Charles Condomine and his wife, Ruth, await the arrival of their dinner guests. When a flamboyant psychic medium leads the dinner party in a séance, the guests gamely play along – until that is, Charles discovers the medium has actually conjured up the spirit of his late wife, Elvira. As the only person who can see and hear the spirit, Charles does his best to keep Ruth from learning of Elvira’s presence, covering for the ghost’s mischievous pranks and causing those around him to question his sanity.
Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children, with tickets available at the door. Allen D. Nease High School is located at 10550 Ray Road in Ponte Vedra.
